Kyra Caruso is a certified and licensed midwife, lactation consultant, doula, and educator.

In her comprehensive class, she will cover the following topics:

• The normal physiology of birth
• Staying at home during early labor
• When to head to the hospital or birth center / when to call the midwife
• Labor and birth in a hospital setting
• Navigating medical interventions: what to expect and how to decide
• Pain management options
• The postpartum period: what’s normal, what to watch for
• Lactation and early breastfeeding support
• Preparing your body for birth from 37 weeks onward
• Hands-on techniques: breathing, movement, and positioning for labor and birth

Courses cost € 108,- per person / € 216,- per couple (for members: € 97,20 / € 194,40)

External Courses

All courses contain valuable information, exercises that can support you during labour and delivery and provide a forum to ask questions and exchange with other couples.

Content includes:

• Introduction into the Austrian health system and different models of care - e.g. ambulatory delivery vs hospital stay, tasks and responsibilities of OBGYN and midwives, regulations for accompaning person etc.
• late pregnancy, labour/ delivery and early postnatal period - preparations, normal processes, pain and pain management, routines at home and at the hospital, the role of the partner, what to expect mentally, common interventions etc.
• practical tools for support - e.g. breathing techniques and different positions for labour
• organisationals/logistics: preparations for the newborn, hospital bag, how to get to the clinic, administrativ steps after delivery etc.
• forum to meet other couples and exchange, place questions, concerns etc

Courses are open for couples, but also women* alone or with a friend or relative are welcome.

Courses cost € 185,- per couple (for members: € 166,50)

DATES

An English birth preparation course is scheduled about every 4-6 weeks. Each course includes a two hour online lecture (Friday evening) and a six hour personal session (Saturday).
